A Little About Me

My name is Aruna Turaga. I have a PhD in Chemistry from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. I have tutored kids of all ages and adults in all branches of chemistry, math, physics for many years before embarking on a career in the corporate world. After successfully managing an analytical laboratory in beautiful Seattle for six years, I have decided to return to my greatest passion, teaching. For me, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing kids excited about science or being proud of themselves for doing so well in a math competition.

I have started a science club at Redmond Middle School and formed the first Science Olympiad team on the Eastside along with a team for National Science Bowl. Afterwards, I had helped parents from Evergreen Middle School to form similar teams. Now, hundreds of students participate in these science competitions from various middle schools in the Redmond, Sammamish, Kirkland and Bellevue areas. Our teams regularly go to the Nationals and many have won medals at the National level.

Many kids start doing advanced math at an early age and are fairly comfortable with difficult concepts. Sadly, there are very little avenues to get introduced to higher science concepts in middle school and consequently, kids struggle with sciences in high school. I'd like to make it easy for them by introducing the 6th to 8th grade kids to the wonder of science.
